News at 11.

Just came in to check on the Boukits, and all looks very well indeed. I'm glad, you're glad, it's summer and my Sarakitty is helpping me type so this will be shprt. bye!

YM joins Metz in the *THUD* pile, also ded of the Qte. With a smile on her face.
They're floofing up quite nicely - can't wait to see how their personalities shape up!
...
Awwww their eyes are still closed.

Speesh-less! Thanks for the Sunday morning peecs.

My bebs were like that three weeks ago, now they're getting ready to leave the nest. Miah-miah-miah Chaaaaaaarge! Nope, changed their mind. :)

And how is Bou Ma ??

And how is Bou Ma ??

Good grief, lemme tellya, talk about your QUEEN momcats... Bou has Jaye trained to a T. Apparently we looooove kitten-milk-replacer mixed with Salmon Feast, and a dollop of high-calorie NutriCal paste, fed to her in bed, through a syringe, mouthful after vile squirty mouthful. And it's not like she never gets out of the CatCave ICU basket; the litterbox is definitely in use.

She gets away with this royal treatment because she's getting healthier by the day, and the kittens are nursing very well.

Note to SHANCHAN: I accidentally deleted your comment! Sorry! It was a mistake! I was trying to delete & re-write mine...
:(

Awwww! IT looks like everyone is doing much better today. and Bou... well she knows what every cat knows we are their slaves and happy to do it....

Glad everyone is on the fast track to healthyness.

I hope you all have gotten some rest now that the worst has passed.

<3<3<3 to you all

I'm so happy to hear that "Queen" Bou is on the road to recovery! After what she's been through, she deserves the royal treatment. You all really performed a miracle this week. Kudos to everyone!
[this is good]

YAY - bou wasn't sick at all, she just needed to train you guys properly. LOL

seriously though, great news, happy she's feeling well

No worries Theo! I think it was just gurgling over the kittens anyway!!
So Bou has a handmaiden.
Peel her a grape?

C'mon, Queen Bou clearly deserves some service - at least she's feeding the kittens now.
But maybe you could try putting some loathsome snack in a bowl too, and see if it vanishes.

Has she taken over important kitten grooming duties too, or are you still cleaning tummies.
--nothing like a sick mama cat to make you appreciate all the work they are doing with those kittens!
So glad she's perking up, teho. So tiny and adorable, the bebehs.
Kiss all those fuzzy heads for me.. Including Bou of course!
[this is good]

Oh, somebody already used the *queen* double entendre, but I'm SOOOOOO delighted that Bou is definitely on the mend. (snorgle snorgle)

And the teeny tuxie muzzlepuff is beyond adorable! Kind of a reverse mustache? The pile of preciousness is squee-tacular!

Really, I'm curious too if Bou can tend to the teentsies as well? Or are you still having to do the cleaning? Do tell!

Teho
Jaye masquerading as Theo again here...

Bou is grooming the kittens occasionally, but it's mostly the odd swipe or two across their heads or backs. I haven't seen her do any unprompted bottom-cleaning, so I am continuing to wipe them with damp cotton balls every couple of hours. Sometimes with no results, so I hope that means Bou *is* doing it and I just haven't happened to see it.

Laowolf, I did try offering her the food in a dish this morning, when she should have been hungriest. She looked at it briefly and climbed right back in with the kittens. I think it's still her stuffy nose--can't smell the food, so doesn't want to eat it. She seems *very* content to gulp down whatever I syringe into her, though.

Awweeee....so so so cute! I am loving the baby kitties.

I hope Bou keeps feeling better and better and better and soon enough will be taking full care of the babies. I know it must be tiresome to have to wipe kittie bottoms all the time.

I really hope she is doing a little bottom-wiping, and who knows? She's getting better and better all the time. :>D

I'd be only too happy to spell you if I lived anywhere close, just like everybody else who's following this saga. Kitters are way too adorable and if Bou would accept me as Alternative Handmaiden, I'd be *happy* to man the syringe brigade. :>D

[this is good]
I'm glad Bou's doing better and the kittens are thriving! They're so fluffy and cute! I want to snorgle the whole pile.
I'm in love with the tux there. Weeee!

I have to mention that every cat/ktten I have ever treated (with Upper Respitory symptoms) can't tell it's food unless you put it into their mouthes. Send me a link via my blog if you want some backup, I'd be happy to send some $$$ your way....

[this is good]

Oooh, they look wonderful. Nice to know they're getting better. You guys are teh awesum.

awww, peaceful pile of kittens...
After an encouraging day/evening yesterday, I'm sorry to report that Bou took a turn for the worse again. The little family is back at Companion Animal Hospital for the day, in hopes that the vet can figure out if something else besides the respiratory virus is going on with Bou.

I'm crushed. I went to bed feeling good about how contented she was looking, and how much food/liquids she'd taken via the syringe feedings all weekend. She was purring and happy, her temp was absolutely normal, and she'd actually gotten up to eat some of the crunchy food from her dish without prompting.

Then this morning: Temperature soaring back up to 105, completely listless, refusing both the food dish and the syringe feedings. I could just cry. :(

Worriedly,
Jaye
Oh Jaye, what sad news! Hopefully the vet can get her fixed up, and the little family can grow! My thoughts are with the kittehs and you & the rest of the Schmoop fam :)
I am so sorry to hear this.
Poor girl, poor yous.

Maybe the vets will find something and be able to help her better this time.
It does sound as if more than just the respiratory thing is going on, because that should be pretty much finished up.
But, thanks to all those feedings, she's got a little more reserve energy this time.
And you were there, on top of things, to catch that something was wrong.

I am so sorry to hear about Bou. Hang in there! You are taking such good care of her. She could never have come this far without you.

When my Homer had a URI, to get him to eat, I put some hot water on his dry food to bring up the aroma. I also used the juice from a can of tuna to attract him to the food dish. Also, the vet had me use a baby nasal aspirator to suck out some of the mucous. That helped him breathe better and smell the food. I had to cover the opposite nostril with my finger to get good suction. He didn't like the noise, but he was so miserable, he was fine with allowing me to suction his nose. You could also try using one of the small syringes that you were feeding the babies with.

Don't know if these will reach all the way from Oregon, but:

*good thoughts* *good thoughts* *good thoughts* *good thoughts*

Oh dear, so sorry to hear that Bou's down again. You guys are doing all you can for them. Stay strong.

*beaming warm thoughts for Bou and the Catcavers*

Oh dear, Jaye, BIG Hugs {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Jaye et al}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}. Prayers here for the vets to find out what is going on with Mama Bou, and for her to recover quickly. Prayers also for kittens to flourish. Please hold onto the knowledge that you have given Bou and her bebehs a fighting chance, and as lauowolf said, you have given Bou a reserve to help deal with this set back.

Purrs from Yitzy & prayers from me....

Oh Nooo! Poor Bou, Gosh I hope they can find what is going on and help her to get better. Sending good wishes prayers and thought to you all.
Wow, what an ordeal you all have gone through. I am sending Bou my good thoughts and MVHS another donation... wish I could do more...

Oh no! Poor Bou, poor baby kitties...poor Jaye and Theo. I hope and pray that the vet figures this out quickly and Bou gets back on the road to recovery.

You guys are doing such a great job caring for Bou and her babies. Keep up the good work. They appreciate it and so does their future forever homes.

(((hugs))) of encouragement and support....coming from Alabama

What an emotional roller-coaster you guys are on. Bou is in good hands today, take a bit of a breather from your hard work keeping her strength up. Of course you're worried, and we're all worrying with you.

Little furballs affect us so.

these are sad news indeed, Ww. it may be that nursing the bebehs is more than what Bou can handle in her (very) weakened state.
good thoughts going your way; I hope the vets at CAH can provide more insight.
Metz

Hmmm, I was moping and feeling sorry for myself for my bad weekend but now I'm realizing that there's worse things happening to others. I'm sorry she's back to being ill...prayers and thinking good thoughts for all of you.

*Hugz*

Prayers and good thoughts to Bou and all of you. I hope hope hope she pulls through ok. It's heartbreaking to know she's suffering so.

Much hugs and lovins and pettins and scritchins to Bou and the kits. I am so sorry to hear of Bou's decline, and it seems that this rollercoaster just won't end. Is it possible that, with all she's been through, her immune system is just shot all to pieces, and she's unable to fight off even simple infections? Much the way that we're more likely to get sick in times of stress, or lack of sleep, of when we push ourselves to our limits.

The poor thing. Birthing 7 kittens, having to give up on 2 of them, on top of a URI, and she being barely out of kittenhood herself. I wouldn't be surprised if it were an opportunistic infection that's got her, or that keeps getting her. Something that wouldn't normally be a problem, but in her weakened state, it can latch on and hold.

Jaye and Theo,

Keep fighting the good fight.

Oops, lost part of the message. Please let us know where we can send $$ to help out.

poor boumamma. Poor kittens. Hang in there. At least Bou is getting cared for and is not out on her own.
on and btw what a freaking emotional roller coaster this post is. First it's all squee and thud then the heartbreak of having a sick momma kitty. Sigh. poor bou
YGRS
I'm glad the Bou fambly is spending some time with the vets today. I'm thinking that's the very best place for them all to be right now. If Bou needs ANYTHING, they are right there to do it for her as soon as she needs it. I'm hoping they'll find out exactly what's wrong and will be able to give her what she needs to start feeling better immediately.
You guys must be DRAINED right now. Hugs hugs hugs to all of you. Hang in there and let the docs do their thing. I hope that soon the Bou fambly will be back in the catcave and will be all happy & healthy.
Hugs again to all of you.
Bou --- feel all better soon beautiful mama kittygirl.
From my kitty fambly to yours : hang in there Bou, we love you and the kitters, sending good thoughts. Remember you were named after a warrior queen! The vets will give her the best care, Jaye and Theo please relax today and get plenty of rest. Love to Rikki too, who must be wondering where all the attention went!
I hope they can figure out what's wrong with her. It does sound like something more than the URI. Is there more than one vet looking at her?
Worry, worry, fret, fret, pace, pace, check on posts frequently. There's got to be SOMETHING we out here can do. Sending white light, healing thoughts, good wishes, all of that. Maybe the URI is resistant to that antibiotic. The vet will find out. Please keep posting.
This is a very rough rollercoaster. As many others, I feel so helpless. I don't know you guys except for this blog, but I would love to send a care package or something to cheer you up a little bit. For obvious reasons, you probably don't want your address displayed on the web. If a package arrived c/o MVHS to Theo and Jaye, would it get through to you?

Hang in there, Bou and kittens. So many good thoughts are coming your way.
[this is good]

Oh no, oh no oh no.............at least Bou and the kitters are getting the best care and you *really* have done more for them than they could have ever hoped for (before meeting you).

The idea of a care package appeals to me,too - is there some way to preserve your privacy and let us send a little love your way?

You guys are the best. <3 <3 <3 (supposed to be hearts, but some people think they look like mouses)
