Ooo, so who won, Teho?

KITTENS!
[this is good]
OMG kitnz... how many Teho? 5?
Five it is: two black, one gray, one cream, one tortie.
Whoever guessed 5 kitters arriving the earliest won... I'll check & see later. Trying to upload video now...
[this is good]
kitters!!!! kitters!! kitters!!!!!

Oh, boy!!
[this is good]
Is that four? Or five? Ooh, I want one!
TORTIE!!!!!

My sympathies.

I wuz wondering about that one in the middle, if'n it was white or had a touch of butterscotch -- well, cream is a very light orange, right?

cream is a very light orange, right?

Heh. Somehow, I think I'll cope. ;)

OOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo. Ooooh. OHHHH. OMG. My heart is going to EXPLODE.

I am not kidding. My heart hurts. Wait, it could be my ovaries. No, they are in a jar at the hospital...it's my heart.

Oh oh oh oh oh
What a good mommy Kenya is!
5 little luvmushes to pwn the Catcave!
She looks SO proud. luvmushes is right, lt!!!!
[this is good]
Congratulations to Kenya! Oh, this is so wonderful! She's beautiful and her babies are all so adorable. *melts*
YAY kittens! Welcome!
It should have been a giveaway -- among my vox neighbors today were the posts "A great day for cuteness" and a post of the song "Lovecats" by the Cure.
Oh, she went early! Can I change my bet? No I'm happy to pay up.
What a calm Mama. You've made her feel secure. Thanks for posting the photo and the vid. Post more, of course. Close ups of the kittenz so we can hear the meeps.
Can we place bets on names? Kilimanjaro (for the biggest one), Masai (for the bravest one), Nairobi (for the first born?), Mombasa (for a girl-or a black one-, Ladysmith Black Mombasa), Swahili (for the one that talks the most).
Have FUN!
[this is good]
NO WAAAAYS! She beat everybody to the punch. Also, what sweetheart. All purry and happy to have you admire her kitters.
so were you and the schmoopton family actually present for the births and stuff??
Sadly, we were all at work & school. Mama was all finished long before we got home. Everything seemed normal this morning before I left, though; Kenya was lounging as usual, plenty of food & water, clean litterbox, etc. and no "nesting" behavior evident. Then, S'PRISE!!
[this is good]

ooooh, the little squeeeeebabies!!! Congrats to Kenya & Teho & fambly! little squeebebehs, little squeebebehs...

I'm just a puddle of squee now!

[this is swell]

T., you are simply giggling with delight. And Jaye: 'finding the spigot'???

What a beautiful family - all warm, furry, content and safe. We require more videos, yes, but I think something more is needed - possible a novel, maybe "Five Little Kitters And How They Grew"? I'm sure Margaret Sidney wouldn't mind.

Oh yes, yes, yes.
This is just lovely.
And such a proud and sneaky momcat.
[this is good]
This is the bestest way for me to wrap up my day! Started off crappy, had a great time at the benefit, and now this!!! Congratulations to the kitty family and the Teho Family!
[this is good]
their little mews are too much! They're gorgeous! Good work, Mamacat.
Meant to ask, what is Mr. Bounce's reaction?
Pyrit, the resident cats haven't been allowed any contact. Part of the fostering contract is that the foster creatures are kept in their own room. And we'd be keeping a tom, even a neutered one, well away from new kittens not of his breeding in any case...

I just looked in on the little family. Kenya looks *so* pleased with herself, and the bebehs are a warm, sleepy little pile cuddled up next to her belly fur. Awwwww, what a sight to start the day.
Go Kenya...sistah's doin' it for themselves.

Congrats to you all and the lucky potential owners of the kittens.

[this is ANERABLE]

Ooooh, what a pile of cuties!!! And so colourful too!!! YAY and congrats to Kenya, teh Schmoops and you!!!!
Ooh, an Annie/Aretha reference. Yum.
Yeah, I'm anxious to get them into some sunlight soon, for some REAL photos. Wait'll you see teh bebeh torteh.
you'll need a bigger nest Teho... they barely all fit in there now. Kenya is flopping over teh edges... and they're supposed to grow, right?

Yo, Teho - because I'm a great beeg geek, I played around with the bets yesterday (entered 'em into a spreadsheet and made pie charts 'n' everything!). Anyway, I can give you the answer to who won:

Shanchan bet that 5 kitters would arrive on March 30th.

I <3 kitters!

Way to go, Kenya!

Yep... I've already seen Kenya flop up against the outside of the kitty kuddler, with the babies still inside. I'll work something out.
Bebeh torteh!!? *splodes*

I like the creamy one, too! Oh hell, what am I saying? I love them all! Am looking forward to more pics!
D'oh! I see that you beat me to the answer. Sigh.
Heh, you so silly... I didn't need a spreadsheet to tell me THAT.
;)
er yeah, so you've noticed

may I second pyrit's awesom-O name choices for the kittehs?

Kilimanjaro (Kili, for short), Nairobi, Masai, Mambazo, Swahili.

[golf clap for pyrit]

How do you all tear yourselves away from this tableau at your house to go to work/schoool? I'd call in sick.
I can't tear myself away even from just the video.... sigh...

I'm 3rding pyrit's suggestions, so it's official, right? :)

Well, on the drive to school this morning, Schmoop Teen 1 suggested we name the little wanderer (who couldn't find the milk) after the explorer who kept going the wrong direction. We couldn't remember his name, though.

Schmoop Teen 2, the budding Egyptologist, liked Cairo.

And I voted for Reykjavik for the white one.

Clearly a family conference is called for.
Wordswoman - I don't know about the explorer - but I was thinking Don Quixote.

Douglas "Wrong Way" Corrigan?

Capt. Peter "Wrong Way" Peachfuzz?

Wrongway Feldman?

Well, we are taking Monday off...
I'm inclined to wait a little while before naming 'em, because sometimes I like the "gender-specific" names, and right now I can't tell the boy kittens from the girl kittens. (I'm pretty sure now that Kenya's female, though.)

Jaye -- re: "Cairo" -- for which kitten? And I want to name the tortie... which leaves one more kitten for somebody to name... hmm... I wonder who that should be...
When my lady cat had kittens* in my lap, I called work and explained I couldn't come in.
Because of the kittens.
They thought I was *very* weird.

*I was young and stupid, and thought you waited until cats were physically mature to neuter them. Ha.
Hi Jaye! Yes, well and good. Sensible precautions must be taken to keep baby kittens safe. I had got to wondering if Bounce was jealous, curious, clingy, aloof, etc.
As for the names. I love names. Names fascinate me. Yay for the name game.
Cairo is cool. Misguided explorer? Umm, Yukon Cornelius?
Congrats Shanchan!
[this is good]

[this is great!] Yay!! See, I told you Kenya would be considerate enough to give you the whole weekend to adore her baby-kins! :)

(I have been absolutely swamped at work, finally all caught up, so I'm just now getting to join in the fun!)

Although I would love to have the chance to name one, I hestitate to do that since I won't be able to see them in action! :) That said, I've always wanted to name a girl cat Koushka (Russian for cat, I believe) and a black (girl or boy) cat Gigi, after the cat in "Kiki's Delivery Service." But you are under no obligation to use those!

I'm off to make my donation, can't wait for more videos!

Well yes, I'll certainly post more video, so you won't totally miss out on the Kitten Action. Koushka and Gigi are good names (and teh Schmooplets would approve of the Miyazaki reference).

Also, you've got Vox mail. ;)
I like Pyrit's names, altho all the ideas so far are good.

Teho, you know the odds are extremely high that the tortie (tortietortietortie!) is a girl too. I shall inform HRT that another of her sort has arrived to rule the world.

With a tortie and a cream, looks like Kenya fell for a marmie tom, and mebbe a black one for the others.

KITTENS!
lovely choices, Jaye.
but I'm a bit concerned about "Cairo". has SchmoopTeen2 considered that Cairo may grow up to resemble this namesake?
I dunno... I was thinking more along these lines.
a worthy one, there...but I assume all of Kenya's kitterettes still have their noses, non?
Oui! And bite your tongue, girl! [tsk]

I like the name Cairo! After the geographical reference, I thought of this one.

But there's always the danger that Cairo will be thought of as a nickname for this person.
[this is good]
Congrats Kenya & family! They're soooo wee & squeaky! LURVE them!!
Swahili is an awesome name for the little tortie, I think.
Zanzibar might be a good kitty name too.
[this is good]
Yay Kenya! Such gooooorgeous babies! I love the little cream one. Teh adorabulls!
